It’s time for another Teacher Tidbit Tuesday, and today we’re featuring our art teacher Mrs. Lemmon! MaryAnne grew up in Ft. Worth, attended St. Rita's Catholic School, and then went to Nolan Catholic High School. There were 33 students in her class at St. Rita's, a K-8 school where they were in a self contained classroom. Her 8th grade teacher Sr. Mary Ellen would have her decorate the bulletin board because she saw her artistic talent. MaryAnne played basketball “not because [she] was good, but because it was a small school, and if you wanted to play, you got to play.” Mrs. Lemmon attended The University of Texas at Arlington where she received a Bachelor of Fine Arts, and The University of North Texas, where she earned her teaching certificate for all levels of Art. She and her retired husband Bob have two children, Billy who lives in California, and Tiyana, who passed away from cancer in 2010 but left them two beautiful granddaughters, Kierstin and Lauren. They have two Yorkies, Bubba and Sissy, who she loves taking for walks. She also loves art and reading. Mrs. Lemmon’s favorite thing about CTMS is the students who are enthusiastic and full of energy. “The students have a generous spirit that is heart-warming.” A fun tidbit about MaryAnne is that she is a licensed pilot. She taught people how to fly as a Certified Flight Instructor for three years at Decatur Municipal Airport in Wise county. She met her husband Bob because his dad was her flight instructor!

It’s time for another Teacher Tidbit Tuesday, and this week we have Sean Clary! Sean always played different sports growing up, participating in football, basketball, and track in middle school, which led to a stint in coaching at a middle school before joining the Wolfpack. Social Studies was his favorite subject, and he brings that love to his Texas History students. Mr. Clary attended Texas Tech University for his Bachelors and University of Phoenix for his Masters. GCISD is a family affair, as his wife is a 1st grade teacher at Dove Elementary, his son Jaxton is in 7th grade at CTMS, and his daughter is a 4th grader at Dove. In his free time, Sean enjoys watching sports, especially Texas Tech, working out and running, hiking and camping with his family, and spending time at Higgins Lake in Northern Michigan in the summer. Sean’s favorite thing about CTMS is its great culture. “Everyone looks out for each other and is willing to help. It's a great school to be at!” A fun fact about Sean is that he met his wife during high school, across the street at the GCISD Swim Center! He worked as a lifeguard and she was the head swim instructor.

It’s time for another Teacher Tidbit Tuesday! Today we are featuring Stephanie Maupin, who joined us last year, but brought a ton of social studies and AVID experience with her. Stephanie was born in Virginia Beach and moved to North Richland Hills when she was 3. She was an awkward, class clown, athletic kid in middle school. Mrs. Maupin spent 3 years at TCC and finished her degree at Texas Woman's University in Denton. She and Coach Maupin (from GHES) have been married for 17 years and have three amazing girls, Maddie 13, Skylar 10, and Peyton 5. They have a dog named George! Stephanie loves to read historical fiction. As a mom of three her hobbies also include watching her girls play volleyball and basketball! Ms. Maupin’s favorite thing about teaching is watching students’ faces light up when they get something correct, and realizing that they aren't "bad" at social studies. Learning was difficult for her and she had amazing teachers who were patient and kind, and that's reflected in how she teaches. She says “I hope my students know how much I love teaching them.” Ms. Maupin’s favorite thing about CTMS is “the community we have. The work we do on our campus is difficult, but so rewarding. I couldn't do what I do without the support of our amazing staff!” One fun tidbit about Stephanie is that she is probably the most competitive person on this campus. She’ll be the first to tell you that she has already won three things and it's only September! Another fun fact is that her teaching partner is Coach Arnold, who is also her brother!
