GCISD Collegiate Academy at Tarrant County College Northeast

Mission
Collegiate Academy's mission is for all scholars to demonstrate college readiness by obtaining a high school diploma and an associate's degree which will prepare them for a commitment to lifelong learning.

Vision
The Collegiate Academy vision is to provide students with rigorous, relevant lessons and learning while building positive relationships with ALL students.

CA Why
We are passionate about education for ALL students.

A Challenge-Based Curriculum

Collegiate Academy will use a challenge-based approach to learning, in which students and teachers collaborate to learn about compelling issues, propose solutions to real problems, and take action. In this setting, students must act in order to solve a problem instead of passively receiving information, equipping them with the problem-solving skills necessary to succeed at any college or in any career.

Strong Focus on Writing

College demands strong writing skills. Collegiate Academy students will complete writing assignments in every subject area. As a result, by the time students graduate, they will have mastered how to write for different purposes and audiences.

Strong Teacher Support

Collegiate Academy’s teachers and staff are committed to supporting each student from enrollment in high school to enrollment in a four year college. Through small class sizes, MAPS support and strong staff and parent relationships, our school offers a personalized environment where teachers and students become partners in learning, working together to conquer high school and college challenges and learn about four year colleges and career pathways.

Working with Community Leaders

Our school believes that students should have a deep understanding of their community -- the issues, resources, and leaders. Students will learn how to be active in their high school, TCC campus and neighborhood communities by participating in student government, after-school clubs, community internships and community service projects and graduate ready to be a part of the global community.

Promoting Parent Support

We view parents as highly valued members of our school communities and recognize that our students' success requires a partnership between school and family.  At Collegiate Academy parents are welcome to visit regularly, talk with school staff about their students' progress, and access assignments and grades online. Most importantly, parents are encouraged to be active members of our school communities through volunteer work, parent-teacher nights and special school events.

Promoting Pathways

All students at Collegiate Academy will attend Pathways class every year. Pathways focuses on writing, inquiry, collaboration, reading and strategies for success that include organization, time management, study skills, and support in college classes.
