What is NHS?
The National Honor Society (NHS) elevates a school’s commitment to the values of scholarship, service, leadership, and character. These four pillars have been associated with membership in the organization since its inception in 1921.

What does NHS do?
At Collegiate Academy, members embody the four pillars of NHS:
- Scholarship: Members maintain high GPAs as well help others academically through peer study groups and supporting all students towards success.
Service: Members continue to be active in our school and local community by volunteering throughout the year individually and as larger groups. This includes outdoor cleanups, helping with food pantries, volunteering with youth organizations such as at their churches, and so much more!
Leadership: Members of NHS are also involved throughout the school and local community as active members, committee heads, and officers of clubs and groups.
Character: Members display good character and are role models for all students as they represent what is means to be a Phoenix at Collegiate Academy through their actions and involvement.

Who can join NHS?

Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors eligible for selection to the chapter shall meet the four pillars upon applying:

- Scholarship
:   minimum cumulative GPA of a 3.4 based on a 4.0 scale. This is roughly similar to a 4.25 on a 5.0 scale. This GPA includes high school and college courses.
Service: During their time in high school (May after 8th grade year), Sophomores have at least 20 volunteer/community service hours, Juniors 35, and Seniors 50, with the intention of reaching the 100 hours upon graduation through individual and NHS group service volunteering.
Leadership: be an active member or officer in other school clubs, and possibly participate in out of school organizations.
Character:  Teacher/Staff recommendation from CA/TCC-NE. No behavior infractions in or out of school.

 How can I join NHS?

Students are invited annually by Mrs. Roberts, but can email Mrs. Roberts to fill out the application in early Fall (2021-2022 school year applications are due August 27, 2021).  A faculty council of 5 teachers and staff will review all applications.

Can members be removed from NHS?

Yes, if a member's GPA falls below an unweighted 3.4 GPA, fails to attend member meetings, does not volunteer at semester group service events, and/or does not submit volunteer hours will be in danger of removal. Removed members may re apply the following school year.
